Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 June 2026
Thresho is built to run on your iPhone, not on our computers. We do not operate a server that stores your data, and we have no account system. The short version: your information stays on your device. The detail is below.
Your location
Thresho uses your device location to do one thing: look up the weather forecast and air quality for where you are. Your approximate location is sent to the data providers below so they can return your local conditions. We do not store your location on a server, because we do not have one, and we do not use it to identify, profile, or track you across apps or the web.
What stays on your device
- The window rules and comfort thresholds you set.
- Your notification preferences.
- The forecast data Thresho fetches to schedule your alerts.
Your alerts are scheduled locally on your iPhone. If you delete the app, this information is removed with it.
Data providers we rely on
To give you accurate, local information, Thresho sends your approximate location to:
- Apple WeatherKit for the hourly forecast. Apple's handling of this request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
- AirNow, the U.S. air quality service operated by the EPA and partner agencies, for local air quality.
- Open-Meteo, as a fallback forecast source. If Apple WeatherKit is unavailable, Thresho requests the hourly forecast directly from Open-Meteo, sending your approximate coordinates to return local conditions. The request goes straight from your device; we never receive or store it. Open-Meteo requires no account and uses no cookies or tracking. Per its published policy it may retain standard webserver logs, including IP address, for up to 90 days for technical purposes. Weather data is provided under the CC BY 4.0 license.
We share only what is needed to retrieve your local conditions, and only when the app needs fresh data.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No selling or renting of your data. There is nothing to sell, since we do not collect it centrally.
- No third-party tracking or cross-app profiling.
Diagnostics during the beta
While Thresho is in TestFlight beta, Apple may share aggregated crash logs and basic usage statistics with us through TestFlight. You can turn this off in the TestFlight app. We use it only to find bugs and improve reliability, never to identify you. Thresho does not include any third-party analytics or advertising tools.
Children
Thresho is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change how Thresho handles data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
